Below you can see the layout of the TT Circuit Assen, including all the grandstands and grass bank seating. Later, we’ll highlight the best spots to watch the action.
How Long Is the TT Circuit Assen?
The TT Circuit Assen, also known as The Cathedral of Speed, is 4.542 kilometers long and features 18 corners: 12 right-handers and 6 left-handers. The current layout has been in place since 2006, when the original street circuit was permanently converted into a dedicated race track.
TT Circuit Corners: The Iconic Spots
Haarbocht (T1): First-lap chaos and daring moves.
Strubben (T5): Technical and crucial for corner speed.
De Bult (T9): A great spot to watch riders’ speed and balance.
Ramshoek (T15): Full-throttle bravery required, impressive to witness in person!
Geert Timmer Chicane (T16): Exciting action right up to the last meter.
With all these corners and high-speed straights, there are plenty of places to set up your chair on a grass bank or relax in a grandstand seat. But… what are really the best spots to sit? Let’s dive in!
The Best Spots at the TT Circuit Assen
The best spot at the circuit would of course be on the track itself 😉 Unfortunately, that’s not allowed during a WSBK or MotoGP weekend (unless you’re 9-time World Champion Marc Márquez), but there are plenty of great locations to fully immerse yourself in the action.
MotoGP Tickets
During the MotoGP, tickets are available for different areas. On Friday (practice) and Saturday (qualifying and sprint) at the Dutch TT in Assen, most grandstands and grass bank (talud) areas have a free seating system, which means you can walk around and check out every exciting corner! On Sunday, you’ll need a specific grandstand ticket or a general admission ticket for the grass banks.
Best Grandstands at TT Assen Circuit
When it comes to grandstand seats, it really depends on your preferences. Do you like high-speed straights or big corners? Below we highlight each grandstand and what makes it special.
1. Main Grandstand
- You’ll be right opposite the start grid, pit lane, and finish line. You can also see the spectacular Geert Timmer Chicane, where overtakes often happen until the very last lap.
- Covered, comfortable, full of atmosphere, with views of large screens.
2. Haarbocht Grandstand
- The action kicks off immediately after the start. This grandstand offers plenty of excitement and is a favorite for fans who love close racing.
- Busy, well-accessible, and full of thrilling action.
3. Strubben Grandstand
- Located at the famous Strubben corner (T5), a hairpin where many riders make mistakes or attempt overtakes.
- Top spot for photographers and racing enthusiasts.
- Close to the track, great view, highly favored by experts.
4. TT World Tribune
- Good view of the famous Strubben corner (T5), but you can also see the exit of Madijk (T2) and the entry to Ossebroeken (T4).
- Covered grandstand, slightly elevated with a roof.
- A comfortable spot for those who want a calmer view but still see everything clearly.
5. Ossebroeken Grandstand
- Quick direction changes right after Strubben. Riders need precise and smooth control here.
- Good overview of a technical section.
- Ideal for observing differences in riding style.
6. Stekkenwal Grandstand
- After Ossebroeken, speed increases. Many riders attack here toward De Bult.
- Plenty of overtakes, very dynamic spot!
- Good location for photos.
7. De Bult Grandstand
- A unique point on the circuit with elevation changes and heavy acceleration. You can really see (and hear) the power of the machines.
- Less crowded than Haarbocht or Main Grandstand but definitely worth it.
8. Winterdijk Grandstand

- From this grandstand, you get a great view of the fast section between Stekkenwal (T8) and De Bult (T9).
9. Geert Timmer Grandstand

- Perfect spot to watch overtakes and strategic battles just before the finish.
- Popular with fans who want to experience the race’s final thrilling moments up close.
Best Grass Bank (Talud) Spots at TT Circuit Assen
Besides the grandstands, you can also sit on the grass banks (taluds). The elevated slope provides a great view of the track. On MotoGP Sunday, general admission tickets give access to all talud areas.
For all talud spots, one tip: arrive early! Most fans come early to grab the best spots. Bringing portable chairs is also recommended for comfort.
1. Talud Strubben/Ossebroeken
This elevated slope is right after Ossebroeken and offers views of a combination of Haarbocht → Madijk → Ossebroeken → Strubben — four corners that create a “stadium-like” atmosphere.
2. Talud Veenslang
The Veenslang talud runs along the short straight behind the paddock. Riders reach high speeds here before diving into Ruskenhoek (T6) — a perfect spot to see skill and bravery in action.
3. Talud De Bult
From here, you can watch riders’ cornering techniques at De Bult (T9) — they navigate the bend hard and then accelerate again. Large screens nearby also make it easy to follow the rest of the race.
4. Talud Mandeveen/Duikersloot
Mandeveen (T10) and Duikersloot (T11) are two fast, technical right-hand corners in quick succession. Plenty of action in a short time frame. You also get views of De Bult (T9) from here.
5. Talud Meeuwenmeer
The Meeuwenmeer talud is one of the most sought-after spots among MotoGP fans — and for good reason. You can see high speeds and hard braking in one line of sight. Video walls nearby help you follow the entire race.
6. Talud Hoge Heide
Hoge Heide is the fastest point just after Meeuwenmeer. Riders hit the kink at high speed before braking for the challenging Ramshoek (T15) corner. Screens are often visible here to follow the whole race.
Go Discover It Yourself!
Everyone has their own favorite spot, which makes it hard to pick a single “best” place. More expensive doesn’t always mean better, and we personally love a good spot on the Meeuwenmeer talud. Super cozy, plenty of freedom to move around, and not too far from the bar ;).
But feel free to explore all other talud areas, and on Friday and Saturday, you can even check out all the grandstands — you’re not tied to just one spot! So go on an adventure and see which spot becomes your favorite.
P.S. Don’t forget your earplugs!
